Today I finally got a chance to go put my new Boss Buck Protein Feeder out on my land. My first reactions are that I’m really going to like this feeder. The hopper feels and looks very solid and is made out of a strong plastic, like the kind you see kayaks are made out of. I filled it up with Record Rack 20% protein pellets. These pellets are coated with a moisture resistant coating that prevents the moisture building up in the feeder and caking up. I’ve had problems with this in the past but I was using a 50 gallon barrel, that’s where I think the problem was. This hopper is made to reduce the moisture build up and keep things flowing nicely.

Boss Buck Spinner ConversionAnother plus with this feeder is that after you are done feeding protein in the spring and summer seasons, you can then convert it into a sling feeder by removing the gravity tube and adding the spin feeder with ease. I feel good that I’ve got protein out for the deer, and I also setup a camera to hopefully catch some bucks in velvet and get a good idea of what may be to come during the upcoming season! Once I check the card in a few weeks I’ll report back with hopefully some good trail camera pictures.
